Hunter Valley Region

Hunter Valley is one of the oldest wine regions in Australia. Already in 1820’s they were growing grapes and making a wine. it is a premium wine region, known for fresh high in acidity Semillon. This acidity helps with ageing, in fact, Hunter Semillon ages as good as Chablis. The young wine is lemon-lime, very lean, great with oysters. As it ages, it becomes more honeyed, medium-bodied, great with cooked seafood.

Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Short Trip

SYDNEY PRIVATE TOUR
BEST VALUE & FLEXIBLE TAYLOR-MADE ITINERARY

Private Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Short Trip 7 hrs

The Botanist Way plus Hawkesbury Farm Trail

Less than 2 hours away from Sydney, we can find Mt Tomat Blue Mountains Botanic Garden. Garden is sitting on 252 hectares of land with 28 hectares open to the public all is within the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The main focus is the conservation of cool climate plants.
The Darug Aboriginal people are the native inhabitants of the northern Blue Mountains, including the Mount Tomah area. European discovery and settlement of the area began in 1804 when naturalist George Caley became the first European to visit Fern Tree Hill, now known as Mount Tomah. In 1823 Archibald Bell, with Aboriginal guides, surveyed a route across the northern Blue Mountains. This would become Bells Line of Road.
Bell was followed later the same year by the botanist Allan Cunningham. Cunningham would go on to serve as Superintendent of the Sydney Botanic Garden from 1837 to 1838. In 1972 the Brunets presented their land to the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney and in 1987 garden opened to the public.

They pioneered many projects, one of them focuses on the conservation of Wollemi Pine.

Wollemi Pine is one of the world’s rarest plants and was only recently rediscovered. There are only three strands of adult Wollemi Pines known in the wild and each individual tree is numbered and sometimes named. The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney’s Wollemi Pine tree is growing in the heart of the Garden.

This special tree is one of the oldest Wollemi pine trees outside of the Blue Mountains canyon where they grow in nature, having been grown from the first seed collected in 1994.

In addition, we will be passing the Hawkesbury trail where convict history meets food and wine trail.
In June 1789, Governor Arthur Phillip and a small party of 40 men made the first European exploration of the Hawkesbury River.  Governor Phillip named the river after the British Statesman, Lord Hawkesbury.  They were looking for farming land for the colony. Hawkesbury is still considered a food bowl of Sydney

The first European settlers arrived in 1796. In 1810, Governor Macquarie started to expand and build new towns. Townships of Windsor, Richmond, Wilberforce, Pitt Town and Castlereagh were established.

Only 1 hour north of Sydney we can find Walkabout wildlife park. The animal sanctuary where you can meet free-roaming kangaroos and emus. The visit starts with a ranger interaction. you will have a chance to pat koala and python. At 10 am, the rangers do feed kangaroos and emus, (you can pat them, but you are not allowed to feed them). After many photos with kangaroos, emus, koalas and other native animals, you can enjoy tea and coffee on the verandah. After, we stop at lookouts overlooking Brisbane Waters National Park and enjoy the scenery. Return to Sydney just after 1 pm. We offer hotel drop-off or we can drop you off at Sydney Fishmarkets.
